High Frequency Press is our response to a changing marketplace. Larger presses are becoming celebrity-driven conglomerates. Our over 20+ years of industry experience will allow High Frequency to be well-perched within the market we envision. We will publish only the highest quality work—work we believe in wholeheartedly—work that bucks the new norm.
We created The Writer’s Hotel and The New Guard as good literary citizens, to serve writers and dig deep into writing craft. We maintain that editorial relationships require thoughtful responses and thoughtful discussion. The new, often closed loop of non-responsive agents and editors does not help writers further their careers. Writing shapes culture. Forward motion is necessary.
We are currently offering a quick pitch! This is a short cycle--from April 21-28--where writers can pitch their book manuscripts to us for review and acceptance at High Frequency Press.

Contests will be judged by Shanna McNair and Scott Wolven. Please submit writing that the judges have not read. Writers who have directly worked with either judge (via The Writer’s Hotel, The New Guard or other venue) may not enter that same same novel, short story collection or poetry manuscript for the contest and will be disqualified.

Pitch your book to High Frequency! We are open to pitches for just two weeks: April 28th-May 12. It's free to pitch and we are actively seeking authors for our upcoming 2028-2029 catalogues.
HIGH FREQUENCY is a hybrid press. We work in a cooperative way with our writers. If you're not familiar with the hybrid structure, please have a look at other hybrid presses for context. There is a flat fee (a payment to High Frequency) involved--we are not traditional publishers. We are a small hybrid. This structure is what we came up with, so that we can publish books we love. Our cost is below market. But again, please bear this in mind if you do decide to pitch us. We are looking for serious inquiries and pitches only.
Our mission is to publish innovative, interesting books. Books that are overlooked by gatekeeping traditional publishers. Writers can order their own books at cost (wholesale with no markup) from IngramSpark, which has great distribution in the US and abroad. And writers own those books outright.
